A Central Resource to Find and Buy from Sustainable Brands

It all started when I realized that I wanted to make sustainable buying choices, but just didn’t know where to go. I didn’t know where to start. I didn’t know the brands. I didn’t want to spend 15 hours of research every time I wanted to buy something, and other marketplaces all seemed packed with all the same stuff that goes straight to the landfills. 

What I wanted was one site where I could go to find a selection of brands and products in a bunch of different categories and find sustainable options for whatever I needed. I couldn’t find that site, so we decided to make it.

Make it Easy for People to Buy Sustainably

Most people really do want to make good choices, but are turned off when the effort is too high. The easier we make it, the more people will do the right thing.

We vote with our wallets. The more we choose to buy sustainably, the better it is for our environment, yes, but also the more we signal to the brands that this is important to us and, therefore, to their bottom line.

More Brands will Shift to Retain Share of Wallet

Ultimately, while your individual actions help the environment, the brands and manufacturers are the real contributors to the problem. They won’t change for moral reasons (mostly), but they will change if they perceive a threat to their profits. Your choices are that threat.

Our Core Beliefs

People aren’t going to stop buying stuff. We need stuff. We want stuff. But we also believe that we have a responsibility to make sure that the stuff we buy doesn’t bring harm and misery to the world and the people around us. And we believe that it is possible to both live in a consumerist society and be responsible social citizens. It doesn’t have to be difficult. It doesn’t need to be expensive, and it certainly doesn’t cost us more than the alternative. We believe in holding ourselves responsible first.

What We Look for in Our Brand Partners

Ethical Packaging

We look for brand partners that are committed to using packaging that is both sourced from recycled materials, as well as fully re-useable, recyclable or biodegradable.

Fair Trade

The human costs of the supply chain are just as important. All our partners must be dedicated to fair trade practices and the non-exploitation of foreign and domestic workers.

Commitment to Sustainability

We recognize that, while being 100% sustainable may be the goal, not all brands can achieve it tomorrow. However, we will only partner with brands for whom sustainability is a core part of their DNA. No corporate green-washing PR is welcome here.

Responsible Global Citizens

All aspects of our brand partners' supply chain and global impact will be examined: the materials used, their production process, transportation and labour, as well as their community involvement.
